Fall Brings Great News

Gorgeous orange tree in my Portland neighborhood!

Hello all! It has been far too long since I’ve posted, I hope you’ll forgive me! I’ve been busy with the start of Fall classes along with two incredible opportunities I have been blessed with. I recently became an event coordinating intern at A Family For Every Child (AFFEC), a nonprofit based out of Eugene, OR with the mission of finding loving homes for every waiting foster child. It really is an incredible organization and I am so happy that I’m working with them. I have been helping coordinate future events, creating  targeted emails, and securing donations for their upcoming auction. The staff and fellow interns at AFFEC are lovely and each time I’m there I have a blast.

Along with my internship with AFFEC, I secured a spot as an account supervisor with Allen Hall PR (AHPR). What makes AHPR so unique is that it is solely student run. AHPR works with real clients and provides real results. My team, comprised of three other bright PR students, was assigned the Children’s Healing Arts Project (CHAP), a Portland based nonprofit that uses art therapy to help children through an in-hospital art healing program, art club and community outreach. This organization has touched the lives of so many young people in my own community of Portland and I couldn’t be more pleased to work with them.

So there it is, a small recap of what’s been going on with me. I promise I’ll write again soon!
